Great Meadows = Wetland Innovations

Located on over 350 acres of pristine salt marsh, Great Meadows, LLC is among the most experienced coastal and freshwater wetlands contractors in the Northeast. Since 1968, Great Meadows has excavated millions of cubic yards of earth and restored thousands of acres of wetlands  with the definitive record of 100% success on over 450 completed creation and restoration projects. This track record reflects our unyielding commitment to developing and implementing innovative solutions for our clients.

Our wetland construction and restoration services are supported by New England’s only salt-water nursery.

Great Meadows was founded by Daniel W. McHugh, Jr. as a salt marsh haying operation. Forty years ago, McHugh first applied the unique perspective and lessons of his craft toward constructing and restoring salt marshes. Since then, Great Meadows has expanded to incorporate the expertise of scientists, engineers, and technicians, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to implement projects of uncompromising integrity. To this day, the lessons learned and passed down by generations of salt marsh farmers contribute to the success of our projects and our unique talent for developing superior solutions to achieve our clients' objectives.

A large fleet of modern construction equipment, complemented by custom low ground pressure equipment and skilled operators, enable Great Meadows to execute projects of all sizes and complexities—from large-scale excavations to the creation of delicate wetland microtopography.

Great Meadows is an SBA certified HUB-Zone and Veteran owned company.
